Dr.swapna passed BTECH Chemical engineering from J.N.T.U University, Hyderabad in 2000 and obtained double Masters degree one in Chemical engineering from NIT Warangal in 2003 and others from Technical University Dresden Germany in Molecular bioengineering in 2005 . She worked as RA in Leibniz institute of Polymer Technology from Dresden in 2005-2007 and worked as faculty in couple of Engineering colleges like CBIT, PITAM chennai. She obtained PhD in Biotechnology from NIT Warangal in 2013 under the guidance of Prof P.Sreenivasa Rao. Currently She is Lecturer in the Process Chemistry Department at NIPER-Hyderabad.

During her Doctoral work Isolation and Purification of Industrially important enzyme Alkaline Protease was carried out. Superior strain producing alkaline protease was selected. Biochemical characterization was done and species level identification confirmed the species as Bacillus sp. 16s RNA analysis and phylogenetic tree construction confirmed the strain as Bacillus Firmus. Statistical optimization of environmental and nutritional production parameters was carried out along with scale up studies in Fed-Batch bioreactor and finally a 16 fold yield improvement was possible. 2 years she worked as research assistant in Germany where she synthesized Pegylated polymer liposome’s for drug delivery systems. In her masters project in Germany intramolecular dynamics of end labelled dsDNA molecules in solution were investigated using Fluorescence spectroscopy. Her current research interests are in the field of process Chemistry, Green Synthesis, Biotransformation and drug repurposing methods targeted towards novel Antidiabetic, Anticancer and HDL cholesterol lowering drugs.
